Special days

With Christmas and Valentines gone and now Mothers Day to look forward to I'm wondering how much more disappointment will be heaped upon me. Like most people I tend to take these special days with a pinch of salt however, deep inside, there's still a part of me that would like one of the members of my family to acknowledge my contribution in their lives. Is it too much to expect a card? A small gift? Even just what is asked for? When asked at Xmas what I wanted, I gave specific details. Shop. Size. Colour and pattern. Pink and floral. I got - too big, blue and checkered!
For Mothers Day I'll ask for flowers, but will probably get onions and you know what... I'll accept them with good grace.

Happy New Year indeed

Well I didn't join the masses in Central London to see in the New Year with a bang [or two] but chose the more sedate confines of my own home with the little one. The telly, of course, won out on the choice of what to do...however for the life of me I'm not sure why or how but I managed to land on Alan Carrs New Year Specstacular show.
It was bad TV. At first funny, then as the time wore on I realised my grin was fixed into a grimace and I was no longer laughing. Having flicked to other channels it really was the 'best' of a very bad lot, the more I watched in hope to find some joy, music by the Ting Tings and even JLS the only saving grace. The last time I found my self transfixed watching desperately unfunny people doing desperately unfunny things was at an Ann Summers party, and the time before that a theatre show of Puppetry of the Penis [oh yes]. Happy New Year indeed.

A whole year gone

Oh my,  I'd almost forgotten that I had started this blog. You see the website underwent much change over the last year, changing web hosts, logos [see above] and well... just about everything. Blog pages were incorporated into the website so of course this one was neglected. Not sure it has made a difference on a global scale [economy still on the slide, disasters a penny, X-factor still appalling car crash TV], but checking my stats I can at least see that some people were having a peek.
The Tootbageye site is still live but once again with changes occuring, such as having a semi permanent table space within an indoor market, it means that it is not quite up-to-date. Time will be taken over the festive season to correct that status. In the meanwhile here's the link to the site www.tootbageye.co.uk

Out of hibernation

Well, time now to do some more stitching and making. The new year has started slowly, but opportunities are presenting themselves, ideas are formulating and lights are starting to flicker at the end of the tunnel.
My favourite latest purchase are some tiny coffee cups, will be quite glad to hold on to them, they are just too pretty. Can't decide if they are likely to have come from a set of 6 originally, and if so, what colour would the other two have been? Purple? Orange? Another shade of blue? There's probably a matching coffeepot and more. Will this be another obsession to track things down?!

Is it possible to be so tired and still alive?

Do you ever wonder if you've actually died and no one has told you? Just so tired at the mo and as I walk around I feel as if I'm having an out-of-body experience. Weird eh?
Well the craft shows have been and gone, I've stitched and boiled and cut like never before, glad it's over yet at the same time want to say bring it on! Will happily do it again, always nice to make some money, but for now am taking a well deserved rest. Have a lovely Christmas, I know there'll be little chance to update this blog until the new year so 'til then...

Busy times ahead

Now that the Christmas selling season has started I suspect there'll be less time for blogging. This is the time to really promote the business so I'll be busy making and creating things. I've booked myself in for two Craft fairs. Just the push I need to finish a lot of projects already started and to finally get other ideas crystalised.
The first one is the WI Christmas Craft Market, at Cliffs Pavilion, Westcliff on Sea in early November and the second - Leigh Vintage and Handmade Fair, at Leigh Community Centre, Elm Road, Leigh, Essex on the 27th November. I'll reconfirm those dates and full addresses shortly.
Tootbageye would love to see you if you're in the neighbourhood.

Collecting JAJ Pyrex and others

Although I buy to sell I also buy to keep. One of my largest collections is of JAJ/Pyrex glassware and other brands. Such inexpensive and useful everyday items, it is heartening to know there are loads of other people collecting it as well. To see some amazing collections you really must look at Flickr. One group, Pyrex Love, has [to date] 1,597 members showing 16,128 photographs of covetable colourful printed and non printed glassware. Yum. All now of course sublimely retro. I am a member and I'll post one of my images just as soon as my computer lets me :o(
